8. A guilty pleasure of mine.
I try not to believe in guilty pleasures (why feel guilty?) but I can’t deny I have my fair few.I don’t particularly feel guilty about liking Batman in general, but I do feel guilty about the amount of times I have seen the Nolan films. It’s countless! I am a bit obsessed with them. I pick them apart scene by scene, I know the dialogue, I’ve watched the special features on the disk, have posters (or print-outs), seen interviews… stupidly admire Heath Ledger, THE WHOLE SHA-BANG. They seem to be my ‘default’ films I put on if I’ve had a particularly good/bad day. I have other films like this but these are ones I feel somewhat ‘guilty’ about. I know people are sick of hearing all about how amazing Heath Ledgers performance was and how everyone goes as the joker for Halloween but there is a reason for that. He WAS amazing. It’s ludicrous to hate something purely because it’s popular. I grant you Mark Hamill’s voice in the animated series was fantastic (and who doesn’t like the idea of a British Joker) but I can’t really compare it to Ledger’s. It’s too different. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing or a good thing. ANYWAY the fact of the matter is I like it so… PPPTHH Jog on.
When I was younger I was quite similar. I watched the animated series on the TV and I used to watch that really awful Batman and Robin film with Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr Freeze over and over again. I also liked the 1960’s film with Adam West. At the time it was deadly serious but now I realise how hilarious it is that Batman always remembers to pack ‘Shark-repellent Spray’ into his helicopter ect. I still love that film. Endless laughter.
Anyway the picture pretty much represents how Batman feels about this whole conundrum and I think I feel the same way.Essay over! You may continue to reblog those Lolcats, porn and tattoos now…
